LocalType is not switched on as a keyboard

Android keeps a list of keyboards you have allowed. LocalType is installed but is not on that list yet, so it cannot be used to type.

1 Open Android’s settings and go to the language and input section. The exact name differs per phone — on many devices it is under System.
2 Find the list of on-screen keyboards and switch LocalType on.
3 Open any text field. A keyboard selector appears; choose LocalType.

Switching LocalType on does not remove the keyboard you were using. You can move back and forth through the same selector.
